Индо-иранская жертвенная субстанция somalhaoma до сих пор остается неидентифицированной. В качестве кандидатов для сомы предлагались разные типы мелких кустарников и трав, из которых наиболее вероятной выглядела эфедра: Falk Н. Soma I and II. — BSOAS. 1989, vol. LU, c. 77-90. Однако результаты археологических раскопок подвергают сомнению и этот вариант. Еще одним кандидатом стал мухомор. Этот вариант был предложен Р.Г.Уоссоном в 1968 г. (Wasson R.G.
