Исследование было отрицательным в отношении эффективности по всем восьми исходам и положительным в демонстрации вреда. Эти бесспорные факты были настолько искажены в ходе масштабной манипуляции с данными, что опубликованная статья теневого авторства (имевшая целых 22 «автора») в итоге представила отчет о положительных эффектах3, 4. Массаж данных после их разделения различными способами произвел четыре статистически значимых эффекта, и было ясно, что прежде чем данные были представлены, перепробованы многочисленные варианты. В статье не осталось никаких следов этого; в действительности она ложно утверждала, что положительные исходы были получены априори.
